- Tile removal: $2 to $4 per sq ft
- Carpet removal: $0.50 to $1 per sq ft

Square footage, layout and tile size
Square footage sets the base of every quote, but it is not the whole story. A single small bathroom often costs more per square foot than an open great room, because the setup, cuts and trips are about the same no matter the size.
Layout matters as much as size. A straight lay goes fastest. Diagonal, herringbone and offset patterns take more cutting and more material. Big tile looks clean, but large format pieces need a very flat floor and two people to set them. Mosaics are slow, careful work. That is why tile has the widest range on the list above.

Removing the old floor and prepping the slab
Tearing out tile is heavy, loud work, and it can be a sizable line of its own. Carpet comes up much faster. Either way, removal and haul away should be on your quote as their own lines, not hidden inside the install price.
Under the old floor is the part nobody sees: the concrete slab. Most homes in Wesley Chapel, Land O' Lakes and New Tampa sit on one. High spots get ground down, low spots get self-leveling compound, and cracks are treated before tile goes down. We test the slab for moisture after demo, a vapor barrier is included under every floating floor on concrete, and if the slab needs more we show you the results and quote the fix in writing before any work.
Furniture, stairs, trim and baseboards
An empty house is the easiest and fastest job, which is why a lot of homeowners schedule floors right after closing. A furnished house takes more time because rooms are cleared and reset as we go. We can move the furniture, and on bigger jobs John can phase the house, half at a time, so your family can stay home.
Stairs are priced per step, since each one is measured, cut and finished on its own. Trim is the other variable. Reusing baseboards that are in good shape saves money. Quarter round is a simple finish along the wall. New baseboards cost more but can change the look of the whole room.

How material choice changes the total
The floor you pick moves the total more than anything else on the quote. Vinyl plank and laminate sit at the lower end for both labor and material. Porcelain tile costs more to buy and more to install, and it is built to last. Engineered hardwood falls in between on labor but varies a lot on material.
You can buy flooring through our showroom with installation or supply your own. Supplying your own can save money, but it also means you handle the ordering and the overage. At the showroom you can see price and look side by side before you decide.

Why an itemized flooring quote matters
One lump number tells you almost nothing. It hides whether removal, slab prep, trim or furniture moving is included, and it makes comparing two contractors a guess. When the low quote leaves out the prep, the difference shows up later as a change order or a floor that fails.
John measures every job himself and sends an itemized written quote. Labor and prep are on their own lines, and the flooring is on its own line. You can see exactly what you are paying for, adjust a line if you want to, and there are no surprises on install day.
How flooring financing works
If you would rather spread out the cost, financing is available for qualified homeowners through partners like Wisetack. You apply, see the rate and terms you are approved for, and decide if it makes sense before anything is signed. Ask about it at the estimate and John will walk you through it.
The next step is simple. Book a free in-home estimate and John will measure and send your itemized number, or call or text a photo of the room to (337) 333-2453 for a quick ballpark first.
